NCCI is enhancing the Workers Compensation Coverage Verification https://www.wcc.state.md.us/WFMS/Online_CVS.html . The implementation is now scheduled for January 26, 2021. New features include:   Removing the seven-year limit on the Contains Search Adding the address to the search results - Search results are now state specific for reported employers in the state for the Coverage Date selected and consistent with the POC Inquiry tool   This implementation will also include a change to how POC Inquiry works when using the optional Coverage Date search field. Previously, the field would return results if the Coverage Date fell between the Policy Effective Date and Policy Expiration Date. After the implementation, the Coverage Date field in POC Inquiry will only return results if the date falls within the coverage period of the individual employer, not the policy. For example, if the employer was deleted or the policy cancelled prior to, the coverage search date, then the result would not be returned.
Pursuant to Open Meeting requirements, we announce that the Commissioners will telephonically hold the Commission meeting scheduled for January 28, 2021 starting at 9:30 am. 15 Practitioners Take Note: Exhibits for hearings are REQUIRED to be uploaded to the case file at least three (3) days prior to the hearing. Practitioners are not complying with this requirement. The Commission expects ALL attorneys to comply and submit their exhibits timely. No paper documents will be accepted at the hearing.
The Commission notes that there have been many unnecessary last minute requests for postponement or issues are being withdrawn at the last minute. This late action impacts everyone and severely hampers the ability of the Commission to timely set priority cases.   During this time when the number of cases that can be set are reduced, it is imperative that attorneys plan accordingly. The Commission asks that whenever possible, you file requests for postponements or withdraw issues far enough in advance that another case can be set.
11 Updated procedures for video hearings are posted at this link:  Instructions for Video Hearings, Exhibit Submissions and COVID-19 Courtroom Protocols.
When a claim requested as VRH is already scheduled for an onsite hearing, you must also submit a Request for Continuance of that hearing, noting the VRH as the justification.
