April 24 Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Derrick Mason will be the Guest Speaker for the Kids' Chance 2009 Gala Fundraiser at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor on Tuesday, May 19, 2009.  More information on Kids' Chance and their gala is available on their web page (link).
April 13 We have launched our redesigned our web site to make locating available information easier and faster.  The new design includes enhanced search options using Maryland's Google search and can complete searches throughout Maryland state and local government web sites.  Also of note, our page designs will employ simpler layouts of information listings and feature smaller file sizes to assure that our pages load faster.
April 10 The State of Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission is currently seeking an energetic, versatile and highly skilled Employer Compliance Program Manager (contractual position).
 
The focus of this position is to develop and implement a newly-mandated program to investigate and enforce the statutory requirement that all employers secure workers' compensation insurance for their covered employees. This Program was established to bring uninsured employers into compliance with the law. This position will establish overall policies and procedures for the program, oversee its implementation and approve revisions.  More detail is available on our JOBS page.

A public meeting is scheduled on April 23, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. to solicit comments on the Worker's Compensation Commission Vocational Rehabilitation Sub-Committee proposed recommendations regarding the vocational rehabilitation selection process, level of service provided for injured workers and attorneys fees.

Location: Workers' Compensation Commission, 10 East Baltimore St., 4th floor, Baltimore, Maryland 21202. 

Comments must be received by Friday, April 10, 2009.

Rules of procedure: Parties who have submitted comments as prescribed above have the first opportunity to speak at the hearing;  others will have this opportunity time permitting.  Questions will be directed to Commissioner Jeffrey C. Herwig and must be limited to issues pertinent to the proposed recommendations.  Sub-Committee members may question speakers. Each speaker will be allotted  a maximum of 10 minutes.

Only one speaker representing any organization, association, commercial interest or business shall be permitted to speak at the hearing.
