The Workers' Compensation Commission is deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Workers' Compensation Commission Chairman Charles J. Krysiak on Tuesday, October 19, 2004.

Mr. Krysiak was appointed Chairman to the Workers' Compensation Commission (WCC) by Governor Blair Lee in 1980 and served until 1999.  During his tenure he was a member of the Southern Association of Workers Compensation Administrators (SAWCA), served as President of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards & Commissions (IAIABC - 1989), on the Governor's Advisory Panel to study the Workers' Compensation System (1987) and the Governor's Advisory Panel on Insurance Fraud (1994).

He also served as President of the Maryland Workers' Compensation Educational Association (MWCEA) where he founded "Kid's Chance", an organization that assists college students whose parents are totally disabled from work related injury.

He introduced the Commission to the new world of information technology, installed the first computer system (1983) and introduced digital document imaging for WCC records (1994) and retired in 1999 to devote more time to his family.
