January 28Due to a fire in the complex housing the WCC Beltsville Regional Hearing Site, both morning & afternoon Beltsville dockets scheduled for Monday, January 31 through - Friday February 11, 2005 will be heard at 10003 Derekwood Lane, Lanham, MD 20706.  The site is located just off Forbes Boulevard between US 50 (John Hanson Hwy) and MD 704 (Martin Luther King Hwy.). When available, updated information regarding the Beltsville Regional Site will post to the WCC web or can be accessed via the WCC IVR by selecting menu option 2 at (410) 864-5100 or (800) 492-0479.  Please note that WCC Regional Sites do not open until 9 a.m.
January 27

Notice: Due to a fire in the complex housing the WCC Beltsville Regional Hearing Site, both morning & afternoon Beltsville dockets scheduled for Friday, January 28, 2005 will be heard at the Sheraton College Park, 4095 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD 20705.  The Sheraton is accessed via Exit 29B from Interstate 95 (I-95).  The hotel telephone is (301) 937-4422.  Information regarding subsequent arrangements will post to the WCC web as soon as available.

January 21On December 9, 2004, the Workers' Compensation Commission proposed amendments to Regulations .01 and .02 under COMAR 14.09.06 (Local Office Requirements) and Regulation .01 under COMAR 14.09.01 ( Procedural Regulations ). This action was taken at a public meeting, notice of which was given by publication, pursuant to State Government Article 10-506, Annotated Code of Maryland. The proposed regulations will be published in the January 21, 2005 issue of the Maryland Register. Final action on these proposed changes will be taken at a public meeting on March 10, 2005 at 9:00 am in the 7th Floor (Executive) Conference Room, Workers' Compensation Commission, 10 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD.   No public comments will be taken at the public meeting on March 10, 2005.

January 11

 ATTENTION: All Attorneys representing self-insured employers-  When filing a Request to Enter Appearance of Counsel for Employer/Insurer (WCC C26R, 9/2003) on behalf of a self-insured employer, the box indicating "employer/insurer" MUST be selected/checked.  This selection will automatically update the MD WCC data network to confirm compliance with COMAR 14.09.01.23B(2)

The Commission is closed Monday, January 17, 2005 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

January 7

On November 18, 2004, the Workers' Compensation Commission proposed amendment to Regulation .08 under COMAR 14.09.10 (Individual Employer Self-Insurer). This action was taken at a public meeting, notice of which was given by publication, pursuant to State Government Article 10-506, Annotated Code of Maryland. The proposed regulation is published in the January 7, 2005 issue of the Maryland Register.  Final action on these proposed changes will be taken at a public meeting on March 10, 2005 at 9:00 am in the 7th Floor (Executive) Conference Room, Workers' Compensation Commission, 10 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD.   No public comments will be taken at the public meeting on March 10, 2005.

Through January & February 2005, the Commission will be conducting morning and afternoon hearings at all locations.  Parties to a claim will receive Hearing Notices with A.M. and P.M. time designations.  See Schedules: Hearing & Meeting in the Claims/Adjudication menu at left.
